    “Champing,” or church camping, is a new U.K. travel trend

    COVID-19 restrictions have forced many Brits to holiday closer to home, often making hotel rooms more expensive and harder to come by. But a charity called the Churches Conservation Trust is helping out while helping itself raise funds in the process.   “It’s so atmospheric,” says Wyn Johns, a local volunteer at St. Mary the Virgin Church.     Austin halted camping ban arrests due to COVID, but might revise soon

    In the lead-up to the May election, opponents of the ballot measure to reinstate Austin’s camping ban argued that it would be cruel for the city to begin jailing people who were unable to afford housing. Nearly six months since voters approved the ban, that has not happened. Not a single person has been arrested and booked into jail for sleeping in a prohibited area or for violating two related prohibitions, according to records from the city.     Huge DVLA rule changes set to benefit motorists on camping holidays

    Motorists who holiday with a caravan or trailer are in for some huge changes courtesy of the DVLA. The number of people looking to ‘staycation’ has increased dramatically since the pandemic prompted restrictions on international travel. Pending parliamentary approval, the new rules will be rolled out on November 15. Read more: News from your area From that date, anyone who passed their car driving test on or after January 1, 1997, will be allowed to tow trailers up to 3,500kg. Previously, drivers in that bracket could only tow trailers up to 750kg. They are allowed to drive a trailer
