School holiday camping trip becomes COVID nightmare

Five Kyabram families and almost 30 people have been forced to isolate after a weekend camping trip in Moama turned into a COVID-19 disaster. The families stayed on separate camp sites at the Merool Holiday Park in Moama on Friday and Saturday night, September 24 and 25, and were not made aware of the positive case until the following Thursday. One member of the camping trip, who works at Goulburn Valley Health, was informed they were COVID positive, which threw the entire group into a spin. The group members were not informed of the positive test until four days after

The best last minute camping holidays with availability for this weekend

It has been a record summer for camping holidays this year, as domestic travellers embraced holidaying under canvas. Uncertainty about foreign travel and a relaxation of campsite planning rules have combined to fuel a boom in tent holidays, with bookings for pitches and bell tents at the UK’s largest camping portal, Pitchup.com up 173 per cent compared to pre-pandemic. Unsurprisingly, the South-West, in particular Devon and Cornwall, has been the most popular region for campers. Landowners have also taken advantage of an extension of rules that allow campsites to operate for 56 days per year without the need to apply

Sharing has come to camping as families seek out affordable holiday options

Camping is one of the last permitted ways for Canadians to get out of the house safely. Outdoorsy/Courtesy of manufacturer Not owning a camping trailer or recreational vehicle (RV), we pitched our little family tent on the gravel, and went for a wander around the campsite. Our neighbour had a slightly more luxurious setup, with a Hyundai Santa Fe towing a nuCamp Tab teardrop trailer, which comes with everything, including the kitchen sink. It looked appealing, so I asked: How long had they owned it, and how much was it? Their answers were: “We don’t own it,” and “Surprisingly affordable.”

This summer had its share of racking up miles for summertime fun despite gas prices increasing around the holidays. Labor Day weekend usually marks the end of summer flings throughout the Midwest. Throughout Hillsdale County, people enjoyed vacations packed with camping, reunions and planned activities. While grocery shopping before Labor Day, conversations buzzed about where families planned to go for summer’s last hurrah. Lake Oroville sees slower holiday weekend with record-low water levels

OROVILLE, Calif. – Lake Oroville did not look quite as busy this Labor Day weekend as the water now sits at its all-time low, below 630 feet. “With these conditions, it just doesn’t feel right anymore,” Jesse Quiles, who was visiting from San Francisco said. “It doesn’t feel like the summertime when I was a kid.” Quiles told Action News Now that he remembers a much fuller lake when he was out on the water 15 years ago. “Now I am standing where fish used to be in schools and I can’t believe how many ramps there are,” Quiles said.

BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) – People have come from all over to set up campsites for the holiday weekend. “We got a new tent, and we haven’t been able to use it yet this year because of other circumstances, so we thought this would be a great time to bring the new tent out and spend the weekend with our daughter up here in Bismarck,” said John Wagner, who traveled to General Sibley Park from Rapid City, South Dakota. For Wagner, this year’s trip brings out good memories. “It’s just a good time to come out and visit and spend the
