Manair river front will be best tourist spot in country: Irrigation CS Rajat Kumar

Karimnagar: The Manair River Front (MRF) will stand as one of the best tourist spots not only in Telangana state but also in the country, said the chief secretary to the state irrigation department, Rajat Kumar.

He was speaking after inspecting the construction site along with BC welfare minister Gangula Kamalakar at the lower part of the Manair Dam in Karimnagar district on Tuesday.


Rajat said MRF will become the main entrance for the Kaleshwaram project and will attract many tourists from across the country. Unlike elsewhere, around 147tmc of water will be present in the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation System (KLIS) project, he said.

Earlier, entire Telangana used to look like a desert, but after completion of MRF and with KLIS project, the geography of Telangana will change. The construction works for 638 check dams are at final stage and will be completed very soon, he said.

In addition, 500 check dams will be constructed soon to increase the ground water levels. It is learnt that the ground water levels have already increased to five metres. With a further increase , the entire Telangana will become fertile and flourish with cultivation of various crops, he said.


BC welfare minister Gangula Kamalakar said the construction of MRF is taken up with an investment of Rs 410 crore. In the first phase, the constructions will be completed up to 3.75 km; and in the second phase, the works will be taken up for 6.25km and the works will be completed within two years.

On either side of MRF, the construction of theme parks, water sports facilities, musical fountains, play ground and gardens will be done.

On the occasion of Vykunta Ekadasi on January 13, tenders will be invited. After finalising the tenders, chief minister KCR will be invited for inauguration of the MRF works, he said.


District collector Karnan, officials of irrigation department Muralidhar, Shankar, Venkateshwarlu, tourism managing director Manohar Rao, ED Shankar Reddy, additional collector Garima Agarwal and municipal commissioner Seva Islavath were among those present.
