Indonesia’s holiday island of Bali has theoretically reopened for international tourism arrivals today. It saw SIX passengers enter on a Thursday’s Garuda Indonesia cargo flight from Tokyo.
There has already been a change to what was communicated earlier regarding the 5 X 24 hour (five days) quarantine that would take place upon entering Bali. Potential visitors are now required to purchase a “Warm Up Vacation” package offered by select hotels.
These hotels have select wings reserved for (quarantine) Warm Up Vacation guests with pools, gyms, and perhaps even beach access (obviously depends on the location). You are not required to stay inside your room or suite for five days but can roam within a specific area.
Hotel employees, who interact with the “Warm Up Vacation” guests, must live in the property and not be allowed to leave the premises.
“Warm Up Vacation” certified hotels:
- Grand Hyatt Nusa Dua in Nusa Dua
- Westin Resort in Nusa Dua
- Griya Santrian in Sanur
- Viceroy in Ubud
- Royal Tulip in Jimbaran
Requirements:
- B211 Visa (you need a local sponsor)
- Can only enter Indonesia via Bali or Riau Islands
- Fully Vaccinated
- PCR-RT test done not more than 48 hours before scheduled departure
- 120 hours (5 X 24) of quarantine if fully vaccinated (longer if not)
- PCR-RT tests upon arrival and on day 4
- Health insurance with a minimum of $25,000 coverage that includes Covid-19 care
- Proof of accommodation booking (Warm Up Vacation)and payment for the duration of the intended stay

Conclusion
So, now you cannot quarantine at any place, but need to buy, perhaps at an inflated price, a “Warm Up Welcome” package at one of the approved hotels?
I do like the idea that you are not confined to your room for the duration of your “quarantine,” but how is this going to work when guests from various days can mix and match? What if one of the guests tests positive? Are all the “Warm Up Welcome” package guests then required to quarantine?
You are also required to apply for a visa that can be done online, but you need a local sponsor who wants some cash.
This is way too difficult for any genuine tourist to go through. Perhaps an option for expats and Indonesians who wish to return to the country and would prefer doing the quarantine in a better setting than a basic hotel room.
